Albatros CMS

Overview

Project Albatros is a comprehensive redesign of GuidePilot's CMS that modernises the user interface and experience with the principles of Material Design 3. This initiative aims to create a more intuitive and efficient platform that improves usability, presents a unified visual identity and industry standards for content management systems. 

The Challenge

The current CMS is outdated and causes problems with navigation, tasks and consistency.The goal of the Albatros project is to address these issues through a comprehensive redesign. By improving user flows, implementing new UX strategies and adhering to Material Design 3 and Avian Design System, we are creating a modern, intuitive CMS that increases productivity and satisfaction.

‍Team Structure and Collaboration

A special task force was formed for this project, consisting of myself as the UI/UX designer and a team of experienced programmers. This collaborative approach allowed us to effectively bridge the gap between design and implementation.

• Led UI/UX design (flows, wireframes, prototypes)
• Collaborated with programmers on implementation
• Iterated designs based on feedback and testing

Research and Design

To ensure that our redesign accurately addresses the needs of users, I conducted extensive internal research, including:

1. In-depth interviews with various user groups to gain insights into workflows and pain points
2. Comprehensive competitive analysis to understand industry standards and identify areas for innovation
3. Collaborative workshops with customised user flow and persona templates in Miro
4. Iterative testing and refinement of new UX concepts

This thorough research process resulted in a set of informed design requirements that directly address the needs and goals of our users. The new design promises significant improvements and focuses on:

• Intuitive navigation
• Streamlined processes
• Updated user interface based on the principles of Material Design 3 and Avian Design System

The redesigned CMS will not only fulfill current user expectations, but also pave the way for future innovations in content management.

Throughout the process, our taskforce worked closely together and communicated regularly to ensure alignment between design vision and technical realisation. This integrated approach allowed us to create a product that is both visually appealing and technically robust.
